One of Expeditionary Learning's cornerstone instructional practices, "The Workshop," has been revised to align with the Common Core instructional shifts, embed ongoing assessment to increase responsivness to student needs and help students develop self-reliance and perseverance. In Workshop 2.0, student grapple with interesting and challenging content, have ample opportunity to engaging in collaborative dialog, practice new skills in a collaborative learning culture and consider the mathematical reasoning and thinking of others. Partiicpants in this sesson will view a short film featuring this new and innovative lesson design, then discuss ways that the Workshop 2.0 can be used to increase student self-discovery, involvment and engagment while teaching standards-aligned content.
